More about the Hatters Explorer Scout Unit!

The Hatters Explorer Scout Unit started in 2007, born from the remains of the Grovers Explorer Unit (originally the 22nd Southgate Explorers) by Steve Ward. The Hatters has been at the forefront of Explorer Scouting in Southgate since its birth and continues to be just that; always willing to offer help and always striving to be ambitious and to reach new heights. We are very proud of all that the Unit has achieved so far and we’re going to continue to do more and more.

The current leader team is made up of mostly ex-Hatters, a couple from further afield and a former member of the Grovers and 22nd Southgate Explorer Unit (because he is that old).

Famously, we have delivered some huge international expeditions to Namibia, Peru, Morocco, and India. We’re about much more than that. The volunteering that we have done a long way from home is matched by what we do in our own community for Christ Church in Southgate, Coppett’s Wood and Scublands , The Bourne Methodist Church in Southgate, Memory Lane Cafe and Carers Club, and more.

Our members achieve great things and have incredible experiences in our not-so-small community.
